Arsenal produce devastating display to hit sorry Sheffield United for six

Rampant Arsenal made history with a 6-0 win away to shambolic Sheffield United as Mikel Arteta’s side moved back to within two points of the Premier League summit.

Having seen title rivals Liverpool edge past Nottingham Forest and Manchester City defeat Manchester United, Mikel Arteta’s men knew they had to respond at the Championship-bound Blades.

Arsenal did so in style and could easily have struck more than the five first-half goals they managed at Bramall Lane, where the Monday evening mauling was completed by a Ben White thunderbolt.

Premier League Preview: Southampton v Newcastle United

In-form Jay Rodriguez will be determined to catch the eye of Roy Hodgson once more when Southampton entertain Newcastle United on Saturday.

A return of 13 goals from 31 Premier League appearances in 2013-14 has put the 24-year-old firmly in contention for a place in Hodgson s England squad for the FIFA World Cup later this year.

Liverpool s Daniel Sturridge is the only other Englishman to score more league goals this season than Rodriguez, who has netted in each of his last three outings.

Rodriguez timed his latest goal-scoring performance perfectly, as Hodgson was in the stands at White Hart Lane last weekend to see the Southampton forward break the deadlock before Tottenham battled back to win 3-2.

The clamour for Rodriguez to go to Brazil for the showpiece tou…

City star Tevez withdraws transfer request

Manchester City revealed on Monday that star striker and captain Carlos Tevez has withdrawn his transfer request following clear-the-air talks.

Tevez had shocked City by demanding a move earlier this month after claiming his relationship with the Premier League club s hierarchy had deteriorated beyond repair.

When City rejected the Argentine s claims in a strongly-worded statement it appeared certain the former Manchester United player would be on his way out of Eastlands.

However, Tevez met with City boss Roberto Mancini on Friday and, after also speaking to club officials, he has decided to remain with the team he joined from United in 2009.

Manchester City can confirm to its fans that clear the air talks have been held with Carlos Tevez, a statement …

Zidane saw him when he was 16 years old. Zidane liked him a lot, Perez told Onda Cero.
