Aulas: No offers for Newcastle target Gomis

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has insisted that the club have received no offers for Newcastle United target Bafetimbi Gomis.

The 27-year-old has long been the subject of interest from the Premier League club, with manager Alan Pardew having last month admitted that he was hopeful of concluding a transfer.

Aulas himself has also previously stated that an agreement had been reached by the two clubs, but warned of a potential impasse regarding agent s fees.

And the Frenchman has now seemingly contradicted himself, claiming that a Newcastle offer is not currently on the cards.

We have to be humble, I m ready to make myself available to discuss the situation with Bafetimbi, he told the club s official website.

I think we both need to swallow our pride, myself being the first. But there are no offers currently on the table.

Bafetimbi needs to play football. I believe it would be a mistake to stay entrenched in our current positions.

We have to work with his agent to find an amicable resolution that will see him happy to stay at Lyon.

Gomis, who has been with Lyon since 2009, scored 16 goals in 29 starts last season.
